Sunset Overdrive Review

Sunset Overdrive was one of the Xbox One exclusives I was looking forward to the most. The gameplay mechanics looked great and the cartoony style of the game was a nice alternative to the serious and gritty games the majority of AAA titles these days are. Fortunately, the game met all of my expectations and is one of the best games I've played this year.

Alien Isolation Review

After the universally panned game Aliens: Colonial Marines, Sega had a lot of improving to do for their next Alien game. Instead of going for an action game, they decided to go for a horror survival one with inspiration from the first Alien. Did they succeed? Yes, yes they did.

Destiny Review

Destiny has been one of the most hyped up games of 2014 for a reason- it's a new IP from Bungie, the makers of Halo. In fact, it made back it's entire budget (500 million) in one day! That's insane! So, after all this hype, does Destiny live up to the hype? Not really. Destiny isn't a bad game by any means, it's just really, really flawed.

2014 Emmy Predictions

The Emmys are on Monday, and man do we have a tough year! While there's a few categories that are locks, others are much harder, and in some cases there's no clear frontrunner. I feel confident in these predictions and I don't think I'll be changing them. I'll be listing the categories in the order they're being presented.

2014 Emmy Nomination Predictions

It's hard to believe that on Thursday this year's Emmy nominations will finally be announced. It was a great season for television, and hopefully the Academy chooses wisely. Read on for my predictions!

Watch Dogs Review

Watch Dogs has been one of the most anticipated games of the past couple years. It was originally supposed to come out when PS4 and Xbox One were launching, but Ubisoft delayed it to May. So, after years of waiting, does it live up to the hype? Sort of.

2014 Network Renewal and Cancellation Predictions

It's that time of year where shows are picked up and fans desperately beg for their favorite show to be renewed! The upfronts are next week, but renewal and cancellation announcements are going to be later this week. CBS, Fox, and CW have already renewed most of their shows, but NBC still has quite a few decisions left and ABC hasn't renewed anything yet. The bubble is done; it's either renewed or cancelled. No middle ground at all. Let's jump in!

My thoughts on Amazon Fire TV

Amazon just announced that they were stepping into the streaming box competition with Amazon Fire TV. It's available today for $99 and can also play games using the remote, or you can buy a controller for $40. It looks neat, but there's quite a bit keeping me from buying it. I'll just run down a few thoughts in this article.

2014 Oscar Predictions

The Oscars are tonight! While I still have a few of the nominated movies left to watch, that doesn't mean I can't make my predictions (I'll give my opinion whenever I finish them). 2013 was undeniably a great year for movies, and I'm really looking forward to the ceremony on Sunday. Out of all the BP winners, I'm predicting two going home empty handed compared to just one last year (Beasts of the Souther Wild). Let's dive in!

Dear Vince Gilligan: Don't Make Aaron Paul a Series Regular on Better Call Saul

One of the things in entertainment I'm looking forward to this year is Better Call Saul, the prequel about Saul Goodman, Walter White's lawyer on Breaking Bad. Saul Goodman was my favorite character on the show and I was ecstatic when they announced a spinoff was on the way. A few weeks ago they announced Jonathan Banks who played Mike Ehrmantraut would be a series regular and then my hype meter just about exploded. Could this be the greatest show ever since, well, Breaking Bad? Now there's a rumor that Aaron Paul will be doing more than a cameo and become a series regular. Fortunately this is still a rumor, but if you're reading this Vince Gilligan, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!! Unlike Mike Ehrmantraut who actually is an associate with Saul, Jesse only knew him from Emilio. I'd be all for Aaron Paul guest starring in relation to an Emilio episode, but in no way should he be a series regular, it's not feasible. If it did happen, the show wouldn't be Better Call Saul, it would be Breaking Bad Origins. Please Vince Gilligan, don't make Aaron Paul a series regular! Otherwise I'm still very much looking forward to the premiere in November.

The LEGO Movie review (Spoiler free!)

The LEGO Movie is not only 2014's best movie yet, but it's going to make a lot of top 10 lists this year, including mine. It's a movie that's stupid and funny while being heartwarming at the same time. The gist of the movie is that Emmet (voiced by Chris Pratt) is an ordinary minifigure who doesn't stand out, but according to a "prophecy", he's the chosen one to take the Piece of Resistance and destroy Lord Business (voiced by Will Ferrel), who looks an awful lot like Mitt Romney (according to Fox News).

A Tribute to Philip Seymour Hoffman

Earlier today Philip Seymour Hoffman died of what appears to be a drug overdose. When I heard the news about 20 minutes ago (at the time of writing), I thought this was a joke. Unfortunately, it wasn't. I was heartbroken by this news. Philip Seymour Hoffman was one of the best actors of this generation and he seemed like a great guy. Now we won't see him make anymore movies. The amount of movies he's in is countless. Capote, Moneyball, The Master, Charlie Wilson's War, Doubt, Red Dragon, The Big Lebowski, Boogie Nights, the list goes on and on. Everyone who's gotten to meet Philip has said nothing but great things about him. Rest In Peace.

My thoughts on Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor

News just came out that Jesse Eisneberg and Jeremy Irons have been cast in Batman vs Superman as Lex Luthor and Alfred respectively. I think Jeremy Irons is a great choice for Alfred, but Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor? Come on, that has to be a joke. Rumors were saying either Joaquin Phoenix or Bryan Cranston were up for the role, but this, this came out of nowhere! However, this could be pretty interesting. /Film pointed out that in a modern day world Lex Luthor would be much more like Mark Zuckerberg than Bill Gates. I thought Jesse Eisenberg was great in The Social Network. Elsewhere? Not so much. Now, can Eisenberg do a good job as Luthor? He might. This is actually a pretty similar scenario to when Heath Ledger was announced to play The Joker. Sure, he had a good movie and was nominated for an Oscar, but everyone freaked out because they said he wasn't a good fit. Now? Ledger's Joker is regarded as one of the best characters in a movie. Take this with a grain of salt and keep expectations low like the rest of the movie. I do wonder why they just won't call this "The Justice League" at this point, especially if Denzel Washington is going to be Green Lantern.

Welcome

I figured with the amount of entertainment posts I have over on Theme Park Expedition, it's time to make a new blog. I'll be covering movies and TV on here, but I don't have a name for the blog. If you have any name suggestions tell me on Twitter @ThemeParks4Life.
